  • A Vertical Interaction Course ( VIC ) on “Criminal Justice System : Need for Co-ordination” for IPS Officers / Senior Police Officers / Judicial Magistrates / Commandants was held at the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri for five days from Jan.27 to 31,2014 as approved under letter no. 61/29/2013-TRG-III/BPR&D dated 18.12.13. The VIC was a huge success as evident from the feedback of the participants ( seventeen of them nominated by the BPR&D and six nominated by the GOC, Army 33 Corps ) and the resource persons.

    A Regional Teachers Training Programme ( TTP ) on International Humanitarian Law ( IHL ) was held in the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, from February 7 -9, 2014 organized jointly with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC ), Geneva, Regional Delegation, New Delhi. A total of 35 participants attended the TTP from Assam, Manipur, Sikkim and North Bengal. The Resource Persons included Prof. R. V. Rao, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University of India, Bangalore, Prof. Manoj Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, Prof. Manik Chakraborty, Burdwan University, Dr. Anuradha Saibaba, Legal Adviser, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC ), Regional Delegation, New Delhi, Wing Commander Mr. U.C.Jha, Consultant , International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC ), Regional Delegation, New Delhi. The programme was inaugurated by Professor Mizanul Rahaman, Chairman, Bangladesh National Human Rights Commission, Dhaka, Bangladesh on 7/2/14 at 10 am as the Chief Guest. Mr. Kinley Namgay, Chief Judge, Thimphu Dzongkhag Court, Bhutan graced this occasion as the Special Guest. Two delegates nominated by the Attorney General, Kathmandu, Nepal were present in all the sessions as participants. The Valedictory Session was held on 9/2/14 at 5.30 pm.
